A Life Well Lived

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

September 10, 2025, will go down forever as the day Charlie Kirk was assassinated. A day that evil dealt what it believed would be a final blow. A day the world lost a voice larger than life. A day we collectively felt deep sorrow and loss.

Whether you loved Charlie or even knew his name before that day wouldn’t matter. We would all know him in that moment in time. And since that day, He’s become even more popular, gaining a reported 3.5 million followers on his Instagram account and similar stats on all his other platforms.

There is no doubt that Charlie Kirk was called for such a time as this. A remarkable young man who used his God given talents with excellence. He made a forever impact on this side of eternity and beyond. In doing well he set the bar high for all of us.

While Charlie shared his truth with a generation decades younger than myself—his message served to shed light into my life personally, and in the days following his passing—challenged me in areas that needed to be awaken to absolute truth.

“The storms reveal the lies we believe and the truths we need” Ann Voskamp

In the aftermath of Charlie’s assassination, I couldn’t help but see the stark resemblance this moment in history shared with a “shot heard around the world” that began the American Revolutionary War in 1867, and led to the creation of the United States of America. How ironic that a young man who loved God and country with the ferocity Charlie exemplified would play a crucial role in a modern day “shot heard around the world.” Only this shot would most certainly usher in a whole new revolution. A spiritual revolution. What holy irony.

In the moments, hours, and days, following Charlie’s death I felt shock give way to passion—brewing deeply within me. A battle cry. A defiance of darkness that demands total allegiance.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. Matthew 16:24 NLT

From the beginning of time darkness has sought to silence voices of truth. Darkness detests light. John the Baptist was beheaded for being a voice in the wilderness. Steven was stoned to death for speaking truth to the Jewish authorities. Jesus Christ was crucified for coming to “seek and save the lost.” And. Charlie Kirk was assassinated for being a strong voice of faith and conviction.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit. John 12:24 ASV

Charlie Kirk was well known for his love of God, Country, and family. Not unlike his predecessors, I believe he counted the cost. True calling accepts nothing less than total allegiance.

In the face of evil that was meant to silence a modern voice in the wilderness, I find I am challenged to live my faith out loud with a whole new level of sincerity and allegiance.

Perhaps the façade we have cloaked ourselves with—the one that said to us “persecution only happens to them“—is being removed for our own good?

The Church of the Martyrs of Faith and Homeland, a shrine built in honor of the martyrs in Upper Egypt

In February of 2015 Libyan Islamic State (IS), militants released video footage of the martyrdom of Coptic Christian men in Libya. The footage of their martyrdom included a caption that read — ‘The people of the cross’, followers of the hostile Egyptian church.” The 21 men who knelt before their persecutors were identified as “people of the cross”, and asked to deny their faith or die. Many of the men are seen uttering their final words on this side of eternity — “الرب يسوع المسيح – Lord Jesus Christ.”

The martyrdom of these 21 men sparked the Bible Society of Egypt’s largest campaign ever. A Bible tract was created and sent to print within 36 hours following their public executions. Titled “Two Rows by the Sea” The Bible tract has been widely received in Egypt with 1.6 million copies being immediately distributed.

Evil can inflict pain, suffering and temporal death upon Christians, but—it can never kill their stories.

In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination I find his life and legacy challenging me to live the gift of life I’ve been given with total abandon to Jesus Christ. Thank you, Charlie.
