In a culture of more, I seek to be less. Amidst the backdrop of a busy, I’ll pursue rest. Where grumbling trumps peace, I’ll pass.

What happiness comes to you when you feel your spiritual poverty! For yours is the realm of heaven’s kingdom. Matthew 5:3
When my heart lay shattered upon an earthen floor, I’ll not deny a single jagged piece. Refusing to hide, I’ll walk with my arms open wide.

“What delight comes to you when you wait upon the Lord! For you will find what you long for. Matthew 5:4
In a world littered with harsh & brash I’ll gracefully choose to be last. Where louder & bigger & better vie for front row ─ I’ll opt not to go.

What blessing comes to you when gentleness lives in you! For you will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
I’ll use my words to speak for those whose stories are untold. With total abandon ─ my heart I will expose. Be they broken, bruised, battered, & sold ─ His love I will unfold.

“How enriched you are when you crave righteousness! For you will be satisfied. Matthew 5:6
When keeping one’s peace is weak & brutality is deemed just ─ in His love ─ I simply trust.

“How blessed you are when you demonstrate tender mercy! For tender mercy will be demonstrated to you. Matthew 5:7
When my heart begins to wane & my vision is a blur ─ His fragrant grace becomes my resting place. When pure & simple & beautiful seem all but lost ─ I’ll lean into Him and count the cost.

“What bliss you experience when your heart is pure! For then your eyes will open to see more and more of God. Matthew 5:8
When opinions & traditions & “me-first” cloud my way ─ I’ll let peace light the way.

“How joyful you are when you make peace! For then you will be recognized as a true child of God. Matthew 5:9
I am reminded that the cross is much weightier than a verse in a song or design on a shirt. His life for mine and my life for His. Where loss is gain & faith is costly, hear my prayer ─ “here I am Lord, send me”.

“How enriched you are when persecuted for doing what is right! For then you experience the realm of heaven’s kingdom. Matthew 5:10

“How blessed you are when people insult and persecute you and speak all kinds of cruel lies about you because of your love for me! So leap for joy—since your heavenly reward is great. For you are being rejected the same way the prophets were before you. Mathew 5:11-12
