20,000 Moments

Every morning that I wake to breath in my body — is a gift from God.

Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize-winning scientist, suggests that each day we experience approximately 20,000 moments.  A moment being described as a few seconds in which our brain records an experience.

With the dawn of each new day comes 20,000 beautiful new moments. Some moments are sacred — and I’ll hold them for myself. While others are meant to be shared, only with a few, and some; I’ll invite the world into.

There have been, and there will be, moments I wish to forget — and moments I’ll hold close to my heart — for all of eternity. Weighty moments steeped in pain, and light moments bursting with happiness. Moments have a beautiful way of merging with a myriad of colorful emotions and making memories. When grace and love and truth; are weaved into the tapestry of memory — moments become priceless.

“Living radical isn’t about where you live — it’s about how you love.” Ann Voskamp

I’m humbled and grateful for today — and 20.000 moments, filled with enough grace for the journey. 20,000 moments to inhale & breath — deeply. 20,000 moments to let go & embrace. 20,000 moments to give away and to keep to myself. 20,000 moments to live, love, and laugh. 20,000 moments to cry, hurt, and feel – my pain and that of others. 20,000 moments to live the life I’ve been given out loud —and from the center of who I am.

20,000 moments to risk & love & hurt & — live life tenaciously!

I believe moments, like love, are forever. Memories of moments shared with those I love and are no longer here burn eternal.

So these three things ·continue forever [endure; remain]: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13″1

So, I’ll take my allotted moments today and make the most of them — knowing God’s grace is ready to break my fall. Embracing vulnerability and risk — I’ll choose to live. When I need help — I’ll learn to speak up. Banking on experience and learning as I go — I’ll share my story and listen to yours. I’ll boldly, allow myself to be seen and heard — while making room for you to be loved and appreciated. Wearing my scars without shame, — I’ll love well and be loved extravagantly.

“You were made for the place where your real passion meets compassion because their lies your real purpose.” Ann Voskamp
