I love how Jesus exampled how to pray in the book of Luke. A conversation with God. Simple. Pointed. Real. The Message translation of the Bible shares this prayer in a beautiful way — one my heart can grab a hold of.

Show up in our quite moments and surprise us in our busy lives. Awaken our hearts to Your fragrant grace and delightful love. You are good.

My heart aches for the lost, suffering, broken, wounded, bruised, torn, forgotten, abandoned, hurting, battered and bleeding….. How much more Your heart? You make things right. Keep us alive with three squares meals. You provide food for us — essential to life. You nourish our bodies and strengthen our bones —we are reliant upon You. We look to you for life sustaining food and drink — not for us alone — for all. Sustenance for hungry souls and water for the parched. You sustain us. You are our bread of life. You are good.

Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. I rest and take up residence in your forgiveness. Forgiven of much — I love much. Keep me humble and confident in Your saving grace. Let forgiveness be my habitation and an habitual act of my heart. You are good.
